MY BIO
For me, writing started out as therapy. Putting pen to pad became a personal group session. Those first writings inspired me to become an author. From 2008- 2010 The City of Durham saw an uptick in Domestic Violence cases, so much so it required its own Domestic Violence court to handle all the case. In 2009 I was hired by the City of Durham through that position I was honored to co-chair The Mayor's Domestic Violence Task Force. That same year I had the honor to represent the Task Force. I urged the city council to vote to keep the Domestic Violence court open, which did remain open. While co-chairing the task force, I heard so many stories from Domestic Violence victims and a lot ended in fatality but it wasn't until I started Planning the Women's Forum and speaking at the Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Conference motivated me to become more active in my community. I wanted to make a difference and reach as many people as possible. I saw the effects of Domestic Violence and I saw how it was affecting my community. This experience gave birth to my first book The Ripple Effect: Lasting Affects of Domestic Violence.
A BIT ABOUT ME
I’ve always been passionate about storytelling, impressed by the influence it has on people and the decisions they make in life. Through my writings I love engaging in stories worth writing about. As an Author I'm interested in social issues which plague the community.  My hope is that someone reads my work and it helps to promote change for the better.
Either write something worth reading or do something worth writing.
