One of my first experiences with public speaking came when I closed out the Annual Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Conference. I shared with the attendees, as I was writing my speech the night before, my friend had become a victim of Domestic Violence.  She was stalked and assaulted by her boyfriend. I encouraged her to attend the conference and with her permission everyone heard me tell her story of how frequent Domestic Violence can happen and how it had impacted her life. It also gave the attendees a close look at what Domestic Violence looks like and how anyone can be a victim from all walks of life.
